Kathmandu: Sabina Kafle, wife of Kathmandu Metropolitan Mayor Balen Shah, has responded satirically to recent criticisms against her husband. Posting multiple photos on Facebook, she invited people to comment with their party name and number, promising to “provide content” — a clear jab at critics and media personalities questioning Balen Shah’s character.
This reaction comes after Kathmandu Metropolitan spokesperson Nabin Manandhar questioned Shah’s behavior in a television interview and shared a photo of Balen with an unknown woman, which sparked a wave of social media chatter. Sabina’s post seems to be a direct response to this growing controversy.
In the viral photo, Balen Shah is seen giving a side hug to DJ Yasmin Khanal, who had earlier posted the same picture on her Instagram, referring to Balen as “Dai” (elder brother). Though the image is neither intimate nor inappropriate, Manandhar’s remarks and the media’s sensational coverage have fueled speculation about Shah’s character.
Manandhar claimed the image had been circulating for over a month, although it only recently went viral online. Despite its innocuous nature, the picture and Manandhar’s comments were widely circulated by some YouTubers and media outlets in a provocative manner.
Sabina Kafle’s post, tagged with #EnoughIsEnough and #TakeAChillPill, indicates her frustration with the media frenzy. She also reaffirmed her strong relationship with Balen Shah, posting additional images of him hugging other women casually — suggesting there’s nothing inappropriate about such interactions.
Her sarcastic and confident stance on Facebook has garnered support and attention, making it clear she intends to stand by her husband while criticizing the overblown narrative being pushed by some media outlets.
